Donate Furniture

Our charity relies upon the generosity of local people to think of us when they’re replacing or disposing of their household possessions. We aim to collect within 5 working days or less and collections are always free of charge from any Gateshead address, and for most other areas in Tyne and Wear.

We always require donations or unwanted, usable furniture and electrical items to help people facing hardship in Gateshead. Furniture must be:

  • In a clean and tidy condition
  • Unbroken
  • Safe for use
  • Unstained and odourless
  • Must be complete – no missing parts
  • Units must be no bigger than 4ft in length
  • All sofas and upholstered items must carry a Fire Safety Tag, see below.

Here are some examples of the furniture we collect:

  • Sofas/three-piece suites
  • Bedroom furniture
  • Beds and headboards
  • Mattresses
  • Dining tables and chairs
  • Book cases/wall units
  • Coffee tables
  • Small electrical appliances

We also collect kitchen appliances as part of a furniture donation. If you do not have furniture to donate, please contact D&L Appliances and Plumbing on 07902124493 or 07516375709.

You can be sure that contribution we ask for from those who buy the item(s) you donate are set at the lowest possible price to keep our project going and our primary focus is to help households facing hardship. Any income we generate is used only to further our aims and to keep our doors open for those who need us. We will always remain a not-for-profit charity to ensure that your donations continue to be used to benefit people most in need.
